NEWSPAPER ABOLISHMENT OF RESERVE TOWNSHIP 1917 May, 31

LEGISLATURE ABOLISHES THE TOWN OF RESERVE
The town of Reserve is now history, the state legislature recently passing a bill awarding the taxable territory to adjoining towns.
Following is a copy of the bill introduced by Assemblyman V.V. Miller upon the request of County Clerk John Burger:
Section 1: The Town of Reserve, Sawyer County, Wisconsin, is hereby abolished and all the taxable territory now in the Town of Reserve described as follows to wit: township 40 north, range 8 west, is hereby annexed to and made a part of the Town of Bass Lake; all that taxable territory now in the Town of Reserve and describe as follows to wit: The south half of township 40 north, range 6 west and the south half of township 40 north, range 7 west and sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 in township 39 north, range 7 west, is hereby annexed to and made a part of the Town of Hunter; all the taxable territory now in the Town of Reserve described as follows to wit: sections 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, and 33 in township 39 north, range 7 west and sections 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 34, 35 and 36, in township 39 north, range 7 west, are hereby annexed to and made a part of the Town of Radisson; all the taxable territory now in the Town of Reserve described as follows to wit: sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, and 33 in township 39 north, range 8 west and sections 24, 25 and 26 in township 39 north 9 west and sections 1, 12, 13 of township 38 north 9 west, is hereby annexed to and made a part of the Town of Sand Lake: all the taxable territory now in the Town of Reserve described as follows to wit: sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 17, and 18 of township 38 north 8 west, is hereby annexed to and made a part of the Town of Couderay.
Section 2: The assets and liabilities of the town of Reserve shall be apportioned to the various towns receiving territory there from, under the provisions of this act, as the value of the detached portions shall bear to the whole assessed valuation as shown by the assessment roll of the town of Reserve for the year 1916.
Section 3: The County Board shall at its next meeting demand the books and papers of the present town of Reserve and shall have the power and authority to send for any persons, involved in the settlement of the affairs of the town and shall apportion the asset and liabilities in accordance with the provisions of Section 2 of this act and the town boards of the various towns receiving detached portions of territory shall levy a tax upon the detached property in said territory to pay any indebtedness chargeable thereto by reason of settlement made by the County Board.
Section 4: This act shall take effect upon
passage and publication.
