A. WISE LAND COMPAY BUYS 15,000 ACRES OF LAND
Will Build Twelve Mile Trunk Line Road Connecting Hayward and Southern Sawyer County
The A. Wise Land Company has purchased 15,000 acres of land in Township 40, Ranges 6 & 7. All land located in the Crane Lake country, will be sold from their Hayward offices, while that lying east of the Chippewa River will be handled from the company’s office at Birchwood.
A 12-mile trunk line road will be built through this land will directly connect the southern part of Sawyer Count. The line will start at Township 40 Range 7 and run east across the Chippewa River in 40-6, thence south, connecting with the road north of Winter at Barkers Lake. The cost of the road will amount to $15,000. Sawyer County will pay one half of the amount and the A. Wise Land Company will donate the other half. Work will start as soon as the weather will permit a survey being made of the land. County Highway Commissioner E.J. Collett will be in charge and it is expected to be completed by next fall.
C.E. Wise, local representative of the A. Wise Land Company, states that a German Lutheran colony will be placed on the land immediately.
